Meskel is celebrated by dancing, feasting, and lighting a massive bonfire known in Ethiopian tradition as "Damera". At the capital, Meskel Square hundred thousands of people gather to celebrate the event every year. Meskel is one of the most colorful and highly celebrated festivals in Ethiopia.

This is an extremely colorful three-day festival commemorating
the baptism of Christ. The night before, priests take the Tabot (which
symbolizes the Ark of the Covenant) containing the Ten Commandments from
